P1–P6 CURRICULUM
P1–P6 Core: every lesson leaves verifiable evidence of learning.
Every lesson defines a knowledge goal, mathematical representation, common misconception and observable output. English titles align with student materials; parent-facing descriptions clarify where the lesson sits in the pathway.

SGM-P1A-03-A · 40 MINWhich Group Has More?
This representative lesson moves from an intuitive judgement to one-to-one pairing, then uses more, fewer, and the same as to state and prove the result.
40-minute goals
- Compare two groups by pairing one-to-one
- Use Pair → Look → Say to compare fairly
- Describe more, fewer, or the same as
- Explain why spacing does not change quantity
- Complete a comparison independently
Evidence of successful performance
- A has more than B because one counter is left over.
- Pair the two groups one-to-one and identify whether anything is left over
- Recognise that a longer arrangement does not mean a greater quantity
- Explain a comparison fully using more, fewer, and the same as
Common misconceptions
- Assuming a longer-looking row must contain more
- Giving an answer without being able to explain why
- Confusing more, fewer, and the same as
- Using >, <, or = without connecting the symbol to the quantities

THE 40-MINUTE LESSON FLOW
One lesson, from prerequisite check to independent evidence.
Every phase connects to a real material page; an abstract flowchart never replaces the classroom evidence.

Before counting, choose the group that looks like it has more and share the intuitive judgement.
The teacher uses the learner’s answer, actions and error path to decide whether to ask another question, change the representation or move forward.
PREREQUISITE & PROGRESSION
Not a collection of isolated problems, but a connected curriculum sequence.
- BEFORE · P1ACounting Sets to 10First count one-to-one and understand that the last number tells the total
- NOW · P1AWhich Group Has More?Use one-to-one pairing to decide more, fewer, or the same as
- NEXT · P1AOrder and Ordinal NumbersMove into number order and first through tenth
- LATER · P1APart-Whole and Number Bonds to 10Carry comparison and quantity understanding into part-whole relationships
FIND THE RIGHT START
Not sure whether to begin at P1 or P2?
Let a teacher first observe how the learner represents, explains and checks, then recommend the right starting point.
