One complete map: see where you are and what comes next.
iMentoris L1–L12 describes the real communication you can complete. Test scores and vocabulary size are reference coordinates—not a substitute for a formal level analysis.
L6Discuss familiar work and life topics
You can discuss shopping, language learning, travel experiences, work–life balance, family and future goals with greater ease, travel independently and manage basic exchanges; before living or working fully in English, you still need to develop more abstract expression.

iMentoris L1–L12 is not an official equivalence with any external standard. CEFR provides a shared reference; IELTS also states that tests do not have a one-to-one correspondence. TOEFL iBT introduced its 1–6 score scale on 21 January 2026. Sources were checked in August 2026; formal placement still considers comprehension, expression, interaction and task performance together.

Vocabulary is a coordinate—not English ability itself.
Two people may know the same number of words yet differ greatly in understanding natural speech, organising ideas, handling follow-up questions and completing professional tasks.
Vocabulary counts vary by methodology, so these figures are broad references only. iMentoris never assigns a level from word count alone.
Your starting point is determined by how you use English.
Certificates, age and years of study provide context, but formal placement must return to real performance.
- ComprehensionThe speed, information density and relationship context you can understand
- ExpressionWhether you can organise complete sentences, connected discourse and viewpoints
- InteractionWhether you can ask, respond, clarify and move a conversation forward
- Task performanceWhether you can complete real communication in work and life
You do not have to guess your level.
After the level analysis, we explain your current position, capability gaps and recommended path.
